Supporting legislators, staff and the public in multiple languages
Language interpretation and translation services in Hmong, Somali, Spanish and other languages are provided for official legislative business through contracted services that the Legislative Coordinating Commission (LCC) has with University Language Center.

Services Available Include:

  • Translation (written) - letters and emails
  • Interpretation (spoken) - committee hearings, meetings with legislators or staff, voicemail messages, and responses

Note: Translation or interpretation services are not provided for laws, rules, bills, drafts of bills, or statutes.

Requesting Language Services

  1. Requests must be made through a legislator or legislative staff (i.e. legislative assistant or committee administrator).
  2. Find legislative assistants via the House Member list or the Senator list.
  3. Find committee administrators on the House committee list or the Senate committee list.
  4. Requests should ideally be made 72-hours in advance of need.
